Good question! A lot of them have the rainbow bumper stickers. However, I think it's more that they can just tell...also, they tend to hang out in gay bars or clubs, to spare themselves the awkwardness of mistaking a straight person as a gay. I don't think there is any secret to it.

I don't think gays wear in any particular way to "secretly identify" to others that they are gay. Gay people may wear rainbow accessories at pride day, but making it a must-wear item every day? I don't think so.
Gay people are just like straight people. Forget about the fab five which marginalize gay people who do not wear fancy clothes, go to fancy restaurants, join a gym or yoga class or drink diet soda. Gay people share with straight people very similar lifestyles. Only that they go to bars and clubs which welcome gay people, they go to bed with gay people.
The David Letterman show gay people watch is exactly the same David Letterman show straight people watch.

Actually I wear nothing, but if anyone asks, I will say I am gay. I do not know of any of my gay friends that wear any secret identifier. I find it amasing if you are middle aged, how many strangers would ask about your wife. I normally respond that I am GAY and do not have a wife.

there is not secret wardrobe for homosexuals i am sorry it is just not that easy for us lol. if you are wanting to know if someone is gay then you are gonna have to just tell them, if you want someone to know you are gay then you are gonna have to tell them lol. and honestly the only way to be absolutly sure is to have gay sex with them, and even then its not absolute lol, it sucks
