These engines are not designed for non detergent oils..... where oh where did you hear that nonsense...... lets the engine get gunked up..... nd-30s for water pumps.

Straight 30 (hd-30) is becomming obsolete.... not only does it give alot more startup wear than compared with a multi weight in the summer......, just try it in the cold!! the stuff turns into molasses..
many, many people run synthetic (heck its even recommended by briggs) because it keeps the engine clean, has alot better flow, and stands up to the same temps just fine as a 30 would. I use it myself..... has all 6 engines blown up yet? no

amsoils and mobil one's 10w-30 synthetics can be called double duty oils..... rated as a straight 30, and are multi weights.

Its not a waste of money.... not when one quart will do the engine one oil change....

Shouldn't hurt. But it's really a waste of money since that doesn't have an oil filter. The oil in small engines needs to be changed frequently because it gets dirty very quickly, not because it wears out.

start running regular oil in it and cut me a check for 3 bucks every time you change your oil. Results will be the same all around and your mower will last just as long.

This engine is designed for straight grade 30w non detergent oil

Im surprised the thin synthetic oil hasn't blown your engine yet.

Waste of money.
You aren't hurting it but your not helping it either.
