Can doctors actually tell if there is anything wrong with your brain just by your blood work or would they have to do an x-ray?

There are specialize x-rays for the brain (CAT scans and the like) that will give a really detailed image of the brain. Blood tests really can't tell a doctor much about the brain.

Blood work can tell many things, maybe something associated specificly with the brain, but in order to find out more they would probably have to do a cat scan.

Yep, get ready for a good ol' MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) or CAT scan (bleh, can't remember what it stands for sorry) if you want to really determine if something's wrong with the brain.

blood tests won't tell the story. a picture of the brain and brain activity is generally more accurate.

There are some things that are obvious in blood work. Other problems need other methods to detect them.

Yes ...depending what it is that they are looking for, but not everything can be detected so easily. Somrtimes a MRI, cat scan or biopsy must be done for many other things.
