applying ice will help alot-it will help reduce the swelling.
you should also take ibuprofen-it has an anti-inflammatory in it to also help reduce swelling. take 200-400 mg every 6 hours as needed but do not exceeed 1200mg in 24 hours.
bruises take time to heal and will run their course no matter what you do to try and speed the process up. the ice and ibuprofen are comfort measures but work wonders....

Well for the first 48 hours you should ice, and after the 48 hours you can use heat.
But IcyHot or one of the other sport creams rubbed over the top of the bruise (provided the skin is still intact - meaning you didn't cut yourself where the bruise is) will take the soreness out. Yes I know, its very weird. But try it, I swear it works.
Also a little olive oil rubbed on the bruised area is supposed to make it heal faster, but try it after its starting to feel better. Next time you hit hard enough to bruise, put some oil olive on it, then ice. It won't bruise as badly.

Tylenol per label directions for pain. Don't exercise that leg for now. When the stitches come out (about 10 days) ask how much exercise you can do & how often, or ask for P.T. You may smooth on a little Lanacane (drugstore) to ease local pain.

Ice for the first twenty four to forty eight hours than heat. Also try some ibuprofen. Elevate when possible. Hope this helps.

Ouch! I've done that before. Get some ice. It will help with the swelling, ever after a few days.

you should have put ice pack 4 days ago. for now, just let it be. if it is swelling and painful then be thankful. that is your body's way of healing itself. by swelling is the cause of platelet going its way to the damaged tissue to help heal it. pain is just normal
