because what ever the source you are using will run out one day

Because oil will eventually run out (maybe not for a while, as there's a lot, but the supply is still ultimately limited), and if they don't start finding alternate sources now, a lack of oil is going to grind a lot of society to a halt (seeing as how we're so dependent on it nowadays).

Oil is a limited natural resource, which means one day it will run out. We will be left with no other source if we don't explore alternatives now

Because we could always use more than one way to solve a particuar problem. The more alternatives we have, the more choices we have when finding a solution. Examples: Alternative enegy sources, alternative medical treatments, alternative medications, alternative political solutions.......amoung many.

God gave us hearts to love with, brains to think with, and inquisitive natures that keeps us exploring. Man is always exploring the unknown, trying to build a better mousetrap, and seeking new ways to "skin that cat". Exploration is what keeps us humans going and growing.

(Texas phrase: "There's more than one way skin that cat" means there's more than one solution to a particular problem)

Because we are currently using nonrenewable sources that adversely affect the environment, and buying much of it from countries that support terrorism. If we could move towards ethanol, we could support the development of countries with economies based on agriuculture and we would be using clean burning fuel.

if you mean "alternative fuel sources" it's because fossil fuels are slowly killing this planet. we need to use clean fuel sources like solar, water, wind, hydrogen etc...
