I played trumpet for 10 years. I went on to college as a music education major and did private tutoring with kids so they could learn as well.
I taught one little boy who went on to get a band started at his school, lead our towns parade and turned out to be an awesome person. All my kids love music and I still have my trumpet;although I haven't played it in years.
My music teacher in grade school was my inspiration. He is the neatest person and we have kept in touch all these years.I was the first girl player in the school and beat all the boys at the contests. Not every time but enough to make it fun.I would love for my daughter to take it up.One son plays drums. The other has no interest in playing.

I used to play the alto saxophone. I played it for 5 years and I loved it. I loved the sound of it, I loved everything about the instrument, but I quit playing due to a disgruntled band teacher. His attitude just stunk and I couldn't stand being in the band after that. Sadly, I haven't played it in over 10 years. I play the guitar now and it is a wonderful instrument. Takes a while to learn, but it's worth it!

In high school, I played and was first chair in clarinet and trombone. I also played a little piano, guitar and harmonica. My sad story, I would achieve and then lose interest. I taught myself by ear and hand notes to give myself tips on the sheet music.
I have the greatest respect for those who can take their music a step further. Learning from a teacher can be invaluable. I can still play by ear a bit, but it doesn't compare with my nephew's piano. Reading the music at 8, amazing.

Guitar, bass, some keyboard, & sax. All of them gave me inspiration because of my being able to learn them & play them with a little bit of improvisation. These were the keys to my inspiration. I didn't really quit them. Just putting them off. Part of the reason is I live in an apartment and these instrument tend to be noisy.

I played acoustic and electric guitar in grade school. Also, my mother bought an organ that I learned to play. Later in eighth grade, I learned piano and to better read music. The inspiration for all this was my love of music. It was an antidote for the depressing, disfunctional situation in my home life. I would love it regardless of my life situation, though. Music has a lot of meaning to me; it communicates emotions and ideas in a pure way. There's no doubt to me that it's the best of all the arts.

I have attempted to play the guitar...not successful...I have played the piano...and I am still learning...I have to play by ear because since I was a young kid, I could NEVER learn how to read sheet music. I love Pachebel' Canon...that is the first song I started to play. I haven't had my piano out in a while mainly because I don't have the room in my apartment, but I will play it in my mind every once in a while

I played Piano, Cornet (four months only), Bass guitar, Keys, and Guitar. I quit when I figured out I didn't have the natural talent to make it big, then I just filled in when somebody needed an extra body on stage. I haven't played in.... 15 years.

Trombone - I still have my original that My parents purchased for me in my first year of Junior High School. I still play a little but gave most of it up due to lack of time because of military duties.

The violin, because my father and cousin played it and i wanted to sound like them... the piano, because my mother and grandfather played it and I loved to listen to them.
The violin got destroyed and I've never purchased another one... yet. The piano I play around on everytime I visit a place that has one... haven't been able to afford that 'luxury' for my own place yet.
