I'm offended that you made it tiny. If you are truly proud of your heritage of self reliance and principles uncompromised, shout, don't whisper.

There was similar question asking about the Confederate flag. The problem arose when the KKK and the White Supremacist groups starting using the flag as their symbol. The flag has come to represent racism instead of a fight to keep states rights which Abe Lincoln was against. From that point on, the states have lost more and more power as the federal government has taken more than it was supposed to have. The Civil War was not originally about slavery, that was added later.

It's like with the swastika. Despite what its original use may have been, it has acquired a completely different connotation based on the racially-driven actions of people who used it as their symbol. This connotation cannot be reversed. The association has been made, and to continue to use the flag despite the negative meaning it implies to many, MANY people, is rude towards those whose ancestors were implicated in its history. I think those people deserve to be listened to, even if your flag isn't meant to hurt them (though part of me thinks you enjoy causing a stir with it) they should get the upper hand here. You can find something else to symbolize your beliefs and heritage.
Your black friends may be fine with it, because they know you. Others don't know you, but sadly, there are white supremacists and others who continue to use the flag for it's racial implcations. Over the internet, it's hard to tell what peoples' intentions are. Therefore, don't even TRY to act surprised that people are hurt by it. Or just pissed off.
There, you got your attention. Are you happy yet?

No, but I do find it quite stupid. Obviously you don't understand the "heritage" you are proclaiming. You are proclaiming that it's ok to live on welfare, have 6 kids with no job, never pay off a single debt, live in filth, drink in excess, produce and use methamphetamines, the list goes on.....
I've lived in the south and know exactly what that flag really means. I suggest you learn about it. Do you really want to support that kind of lifestyle?

Okay...and a swastika is a Jewish-man's good luck charm...NOT!
The flag might stand for heritage but it's a heritage based on hate. Yes, I am offended by it but no, I'm nowhere near racist and never have been.

I am not racist and I believe it is pure ignorance to not see the blatant and purposeful connection between that flag and oppression. If I had a swastika flag flying over my house is that bad? I have a german grandfather, it's my heritage.
Of course it's offensive. No doubt.

Yes, my ancestors (my heritage) were killed by idiots flying that flag. If you fly that flag you might as well fly a Japanese flag from World War 2 because it means you are proud of being at war with the United States.
