No...you don't need to buy the CD, I have another HP All-in one printer and when I need to reinstall it I visit the HP website for the drivers.

just click on the full driver :)
Notice: this link is for a Windows XP computer. You can choose another operative system if you don't have Win XP

Enter your printer info and it should give you directions on downloading and installing the driver.
