Wm. Mark Simmons wrote a book called One Foot in the Grave about a "half-vampire". I found it interesting because the character does his own research into vampires and vampire legends and mentions a lot of the different "types" of vampires from around the world. There was a sequel but I forget the name.

Barbara and JC Hendee (sp?) wrote a book called Dhampir, again about a "half-vampire". It was entertaining. It's also a continuing series.

Jim Butcher has a book series about a wizard in Chicago, the first of which is Stormfront (the Dresden Chronicles). I mention this author because some of the main antagonists are vampires which he has divided into three types (Red, Black and White Courts). Each type focusing on drawing from people in a different way.

My all-time favourite vampire book is Salem's Lot, by Stephen King. Ignore the other stuff he's written, some of which is bad, and go and read this one. It's amazing.
Another good one is Fevre Dream, by George R.R. Martin.
The Necroscope series by Brian Lumley features a vampire-like creature as a villain. Perhaps you'll like it.
The Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton is all about Vampire hunting (duh). But it gets kind of Buffy-like at times, more special-effects action than horror. Still worth a try.
You might also find the recent book, 'The Historian', by Elizabeth Kostova, interesting. It's a new take on the original Dracula. A bit on the literary side, but excellent.

Well, tjhose are one of the most well known. But I've heard Laurell K. Hamilton's series Anita Blake, ?Vampire Hunter is really good, a lot of adult content but you can read it if you want. And there is Amelia Atwater-Rhodes did three stories about vampires. And there was a book Robin McKineley did called Sunshine, which is a Buffy-like modern day take on vampires. That book was pretty decent.

To add to those not already mentioned:

Lynsey Sands
Katie MacAlister (very similar in style to MJ Davidson)

You might also like Kelley Armstrong's books. They're werewolf oriented, but soooo good.

Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. Her series is called "Le Compte de Saint-Germaine" and is well-written.

If that'd not the spelling of her last name, try "Yarbrough" or "Yarboro" I've seen it spelled all three ways nI can't remember which is the correct one.
