I have a c-section scheduled for Friday, Nov. 17, and I plan to take off that Monday through Friday beforehand. It would be nice to take a couple of extra weeks off, but I know from my first maternity leave experience that I would much rather have that time off at the end to spend with the new baby, than to have extra time before.

However, it's a whole different question, I guess, when you're not "scheduled" for baby's arrival! If everything is going as planned, and you are expecting your baby on or very close to your due date, I would plan for a week beforehand. Like I said, you'll totally savor any extra time at the end of your leave!

Good luck!

allow about 3 weeks... to give you time to rest up and to prepare
maybe keep an open mind that if you feel like you want to stay another week or finish up a week earlier that it could be a possible option...
maybe discuss this with your boss...
ro even cut our hours down to half days if you feel you want to stay on...
it would be nice to rest up though... your body is about to go through the biggest thing it has ever experienced in its whole life... look after it and dont push yourself too much
all teh best lucky thing

I took mine two weeks before the due date. My daughter was a week early so good thing I gave myself some extra time to clean. You know, the "nesting" thing. It does exist!

Two weeks before date is appropriate.
In any case do not give birth 'to' your office unless you are starting your own new office. lol.
Best of luck !

I left just a week before my due date. I wanted to have more time with the baby when it arrived.

I believe about 2 weeks before is usually the norm, depends partly how you'll feel.
