I agree with the comment above mine. I wouldn't consider either a "good horror movie".
Halloween is the original "slasher-flick". Since it was made back in 1978, you'll think it's more than a bit dated if you're just watching it for the 1st time.
In my mind, "I Know What You Did Last Summer" was just an okay sequel to "Scream", but the actual sequel ("Scream 2") was better than IKWYDLS.
If you're looking for something that will give you nightmares, I'd personally recommend something like: "The Shining" (the 1980 Stanley Kubrick film, not the made-for-TV version), "Frailty" (GREAT ending), "The Exorcist" (old, but still good), or "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" (may not scare the living daylights out of you, but still pretty creepy).
