that sucks. well since you convinced him, you can tell him he doesnt have to if he doesnt want to anymore, since he thought you would be there too. but tell him it would be fun for him, a great way to stay in shape, and what chick doesnt like an athlete?

Just tell him ur sorry and by the way is ur fault u should it think about it better before u told ur friend dont worry if it's a true friend it'll stay around u ...u r not perfect nor he/she so say that it was ur mistake and that everybody has the right to do a mistake once in a while !

I guess it's natural that he is pissed off at you. Did you make any promises about joining the race togther with him/her? If you did, are you absolutely sure you cannot do the race?(btw it's seems to me, it ought be possible for to do the race. It's a one day event right?)

If the answers are "yes", then I think you ought to keep your word and do it. If you really really can't do it, then try to explain to your friend why you can't. I am sure he/she will understand.

Next time, think carefully before making promises.

Tell him life sucks. Life happens. get over it. Try again later. Its not worth the huff and puff. leave the drama to the drama queen.

Think like an adult

how old are we now?? tell your friend to chill out and don't worry about it...or else find somethiing that fits w/your schedule and do that with your friend. the options are pretty obvious...your friend could quit also to find time to do something else!

sounds like your friend has an emotional problem.
you did nothing wrong to your friend. your friend needs to adjust
how he / she chooses to react to the issue at hand and decide, is it worth feeling upset about and risking your friendship. you cannot control how your friend feels nor are you responsible for your friends feeling.
