Might be a stupid question, yes. I'm a freak about the military, yet I do not know much of the differences between these three materials. Y'see, I'm getting one of these for my birthday, so what's the best one to get? I'm planning to shoot small targets such as soda cans, fruit, or the occasional bird. Can you suggest any models?

BB guns shoot a small round copper or sometimes other metal bb's. These bb's can travel at many different speeds and are pretty accurate depending on the BB gun. Pellet guns shoot pellets which are similar to bb's except they are cylander shaped. They tend to be more accurate and powerful. (also depends on pellet gun) Airsoft guns shoot little plastic balls. Similar in shape and size to bb's but plastic instead of metal. Also, they fire at slower velocities. For target shooting I would recommend using a bb or pellet gun. For shooting birds I would recommend the pellet gun. As far as models. Any walmart crossman type bb or pellet gun would work fine for your purposes.

just so you know, Airsoft guns hurt a little, a little sting type hurt (so be sure to terrorize the neighbors!). after you kill a few birds you should upgrade your targets to innocent pedestrians. but moving on....

BB guns kill and maim small animals. there is little difference between pellet and BB guns. airsoft is like paintball, except with little plastic pieces. if your just getting into airsoft i recommend a low end gun. of you want a pistol, i cant help you there. but i do enjoy firing P90 Airsoft Guns (P90s are compact sub machine guns/personal defense weapons with a high rate of fire and impressive accuracy for its class) and they look cool too.

all i can really say is to just look on eBay....thats where i got my first one. you can find anything there cheaper! i do recommend an AEG (Automatic Electric Gun) or a CO2 automatic gun. what can i say, i love suppressive fire!! :D

there are match quality bb gins and pellet guns than near the muzzle velocity of a 22, with one pump, but they are not what id call cheap, maybe more than an actual 22, but they can hurt someone too! bb guns are easier and faster to load, but a pellet has more weight and "knockdown power". But please dont shoot birds, they are haveing a tough time of it these days.

BB is an abreviation for ball bearing. Pellets are cylindrical. They're both the sam diameter. Pellets are heavier. Get a teacher. Many air rifles/pistols can accept both. Get a teacher.

A BB gun shoots a .17 caliber metallic ball.
A pellet gun shoots a .17 caliber lead pettel.
An Air Soft gun shoots a small hard plastic ball.
THe pellet gun is the most accurate.
The BB gun, the second most accurate.
THe Air Soft is terribly un-accurate.

THe BB & pellet guns are available in a pump or CO2 model, in a rifle or pistol.
Personal preference determines which you choose.

airsoft guns are best for that kind of stuff, and you can shoot at other people, and have wars. BB guns go in you, same with pellet guns, but airsoft guns can take down birds(if you want) but you would need to stretch the spring, I did that and three of my guns are doing about 600fps. i have 7 pistols and 5 rifles. For airsoft guns, i prefer spring guns
