My Husband had me ask this question. Also the support was not awarded through the courts. It was voluntarily done by my husband through the child support agency

He should pay till she is 18 regardless. It is HIS own flesh and blood for Pete's sake. You should not meddle.

OK take this from a woman going through this.
If the child registers for college by the first of October,he will have to pay child support until she graduates or turns 23..
I have 21 year old that has been in college since 15(scholarship for gifted children).I still have to pay child support until he graduates next year,Even though he lives on his own in the summer,as long as he is registered for college before October first,I have to pay child support.
I have an 18 year old daughter who will be starting her senior year in high school this month. She plans on going to college to be a nurse practitioner. She will be in school after her 23 birthday.I only have to pay child support until age 23 or she graduates from college.
By the way, when my son graduates with his Masters in Science and Math he will be making $90,000.,, a year. But he hasn't talked to me for a year and I will probably not be able to see him graduate.I have to pay child support to 2 kids that won't even talk to me.Boy this is a hard situation

Arkansas seems to emancipate children for child support at 18 OR graduation, though if there was anything in the divorce agreement stipulating longer payment, which could be as long as until graduation from college, that would take precedent.

He was ordered to pay his ex till the child was 18 years old. So to change this being the child is not living at home anymore you have to go back to court. If the ex is paying fees or what ever she is still supporting the child and he will still have to pay her.

Talk to the courts. They are the ones that can say yes or no. Me I would say you don't have to pay cause she has moved out of the house and is supporting herself.

Try and look this up on his divorce papers. (That is, if there was one.) In SC you have to pay until they quit going to school and that includes college.
