how can anybody think they are smart when there is a thousand questions that no one on earth can even answer?

That is what is so cool about education. I attend a "Research College" that means that the professors are in the process of generating new knowledge.

That is what is so exciting. I am being lectured by professors that are creating new knowledge.

I am not smart, it took every once of knowledge I had to get into the university, but I am so happy to be attending one.

I have realized that at 51 years old, I have a lot of learning left to do in my life. I do not know what I do not know, and that scares me.

I just go on learning...soaking it all in like a sponge. Happy to be sitting in a classroom with some bright minds. I remember one discussion we had in class, almost everyone participated. The professor had her doctorate in business and I could tell that even she had to take a little time to really think about the discussion that we were having in the classroom.

That is the funnest part of college, learning new things.

i like this question. it is rhetorical, no? the more humble you are, the more intelligent you are. meaning, if you know you cannot answer everything, it shows grace and intelligence---because there are millions of possibilities and millions of questions we have not even tapped into. life is discovery and the people who claim they are smart are the ones who create a ceiling for themselves and their own potential.
