MONTREAL (CP) - A demonstration billed as a protest for peace assumed a distinctly anti-Israeli flavour Sunday as protesters denounced the Jewish state for killing hundreds of Lebanese.

Children carrying two large Lebanese flags and adults who trailed behind accused Prime Minister Stephen Harper of being an accomplice to Israeli murder. "Israel terrorist, Harper accomplice," members of the crowd shouted in unison as marchers left a downtown park on their journey through city streets.

Police said more than 15,000 people participated in the rally, making it one of the largest that took place around the world over the weekend.

The picking looks good for a non confidence vote in the House of Commons although Ducepe would not comment Layton seems to see the opurtunity and WHERE are the Liberals ????
I thought they only hid when they were the government?

Wow if we dump Harper over this will the US decide to "liberate" us next ?

No, it will not fall, for several reasons.
- The opinion of most Canadians is not reflected by those who were protesting, regardless of the turnout
- Most Canadians are focused on other possible issues and this one is not a "make or break" one.
- The Liberal party (the only party that can seriously chalenge the Tories) is currently in disarray and is unlikely to find any serious replacement that is on the level of Chretien of even Paul Martin.
- Votes of non confidence so close after the last election will only infuriate voters and they may punish the opposition by giving Harper a majority.

It's not like very many of those protesters were ever going to vote Conservative in the first place. Volpe and Brison (guess he doesn't care for people who would like to stone him) have stated they are with Israel all the way, so the Liberals don't know what their position is at this point. In the past Jewish Canadians have traditioanlly voted Liberal; so Harper may gain some new supporters, but of course he is loosing some. Such is life.

Israel has finished each little thing it ought to to maintain the peace. They gave up chunks of their territory or maybe bulldozed their own settlements and grew to become the land over to the Arabs. however the suicide bombers stored coming in and the missiles have been nevertheless being fired into Israel. As a final hotel, they even equipped a wall to maintain out terrorists yet that did no longer artwork the two. Now the terrorists have abducted Israeli squaddies and proceed to bombard them with missiles. no longer something will fulfill them different than the destruction of Israel. Israel is the only democracy interior the middle East and is surrounded on all facets via international locations that permit terrorists to regulate them, the comparable terrorists that attacked us, Britain, India and different international locations. Israel has a real to look after itself. they are doing what we ought to constantly be doing -- destroying terrorist headquarters and coaching grounds.
