What is more valuable? A brilliant new insightful idea with a few typos? Or a spell checked piece of crap that contributes nothing of value? Why do people focus on typos? Are people really that anal that they focus in on a typo? I mean so what? This isn't my master's thesis I don't give a shite about typos or grammar or any of that shite
A mindless brainless computer can check spelling and grammar
BUT NOT A^%Y%E COMPUTER IN THE WORLD CAN COME UP WITH ONE ORIGINAL THOUGHT!!!! is that what bothers you grammar police people? That some people are able to come up with original thoughts and all you can do is copy and paste perfectly typed info and links from wikipedia? !!?? Fuckff grammer police *** holes

Guilty. I'm concerned with clear communication -- that's what grammar, spelling, and punctuation is all about. It doesn't matter how brilliant you are or how brilliant your idea is, if no one can understand you (or no one wants to read what you've written), it might as well be garbage.
Deliberately using poor English, or nonstandard English, is rude and shows the writer to be uneducated, ignorant, and/or stupid. People are more inclined to read and believe anything that is well-written than something that is sloppy, misspelled, and nonstandard. And someone who cannot ask a simple question without using profanity is displaying a lack of creativity and imagination. Why would anyone listen to that person?

I am the grammar police. My son is a little slow, and the other son is Autistic. With the first son, he spells phonetically, and yes I can understand this form of writing. I am pleased that he tries at all. I praise his work and then tell him how to spell the word properly. No matter how much you hate the grammar police, we can be of great help. I shewd no yur meeneng, but whut about the purson hoo is reedeng yur rezumay? do yoo thenk I wuhld higher a purson hoo dident no how to spehl? My second son who is autistic is trying to learn how to read. He is already going to be behind and have some extra struggles. How is he supposed to learn to read if everyone has a different way of spelling every word? A brilliant, new, and insightful idea is a wonderful thing. What if you were trying to get a grant or some type of funding that would prove your idea? Would you not try to be as careful as possible with your wording as possible? If you were just writing a letter to a friend or family, typos are allowed. I do not copy and paste any computer response. I think you have us confused with the context Gestapo.

HEY, DON'T BE CARRIED AWAY TOO MUCH.
I'm no grammar police and I believe that in all the questions I have been answering, I merely suggested links for them to have more ideas. I also believe, I gave my own explanation in some if not all questions. I don't know if ever you asked a question where I answered. I come to this category because I wanted to help some youngsters or others who have problems with their grammar or anything that has to do with the English language. It pains me though to read your outburst. I'm guilty of sending people to the links available online or copying. That's the reason why yahoo placed another box for the sources.
My point is, please be careful with what you say online my boy. I am not annoyed or irritated. It just surprised me a bit. It's true some people here think they are oh so brilliant that they themselves do not commit mistakes. However, these are the kinds of people we have all over the world. We do not own the web. We are just mere netizens who want to have a life here. I will not tell you who I am or how old I am or whatever. I just wanted you to know about what I think. Some people who visit yahoo are sooooooooooo idealistic it makes me think of my younger years. It also makes me smile. Why not? They seem so
enthralled in their brilliant ideas they no longer focus on the realities of life and one of those is sharing realistic ideas.
I just hope you wouldn't mind us serious people suggesting links to people who ask for help regarding the English language. You see, that's why we come here most of the time. We want to learn more and think more. To tell you frankly, my searches refreshed my memory. It also taught me new things. Therefore, just keep your cool. The more you get affected, the more you get angry.

I am the grammar police, but I hardly ever point it out to anybody. It does bother the crap out of me when I see a word misspelled or the wrong word used in exchange for a different word (there or their; your or you're, accepted or excepted; then or than). I am an elementary teacher and it really bothers me that some professionals are just careless. I worked at a large company, and some of their signs said initiave instead of initiative. I think if someone wants to be professional, they really need to spell check or have someone edit their material. It looks VERY unprofessional and sloppy to have a mistake in their work. Would you want to hire someone who can't spell or use correct grammar--knowing they are representing your company?

Poor grammar ruins your credibility. It may not be fair, but when the only impression people have of you is via the written word, they will judge you by your use of language.
I see your point and agree that originality and insight are more important than letter-perfect writing. BUT if you expect to be taken seriously by educated people, your ideas need to be communicated clearly and without the distraction of misspelling or inappropriate punctuation. A typical reaction is, "If he can't even use "affect/effect correctly, how can I be sure he knows what he is talking about?"

Congratulation's. You are the first person who seemingly takes pride and pleasure in your innate affliction of advanced self administered level of illiteracy.
You should also seek professional help as to your apparent hostile and adversarial personality and attitude.
In terms more closely associated with something you will be able to comprehend and hopefully understand,
" YOUSE ONE SICKO PUPPY".

and your question was . . . ? some people are just that picky, while others just don't care at all. personally, it bothers me when i find grammar errors and typos in published works, and a part of me is always bothered by it. on the other hand, i don't worry about people's grammar that much, because english (as spoken in the united states) is losing many of its hard-and-fast grammar rules because so many people break them and nobody bothers to make them fix it (we americans are terribly lazy!). what really bothers me is when people make typos and don't bother to fix them (deliberate typos, netspeak, slang, etc. are understandable, but normal typos really get to me). and please calm down and stop swearing.
