yes! every time it gets bitten, it gets bigger, making it easier to bite again...at least it seems like it. try taking your finger (clean, please) and pushing the wadded up skin flat...sometimes it helps.

Yes, and it is weird how it happens sometimes. Not funny weird but painful weird.
I recently got some good dentures. It turns out I had been chewing on one side of my mouth. So when I got dentures, I could chew on both, but suddenly I bite the inside of my mouth very hard. And I keep doing it.
Finally I sat down and ate some bread and paid attention to how I was chewing. On the side I had not been chew everything was a OK. But, it was on the side that I had been chewing. So what changed?
When you chewing on both sides of your mouth you transfer your food from one side to the other. When you have food in your mouth, the food pushes the cheek away from the teeth. So, I realized that I was biting myself because I transferred the food away from the area I was not chewing on and what happen was the inner cheek fill into the path of my teeth. I had to retrain my mouth and tongue.
The solution was to be conscious of where the food in my mouth was being stored between swallows. It is all about being conscious of what is happening in your mouth as you chew.
Consciousness! My God how much do you have to be aware on at any given time.
I am being funny here. The awareness will usually fix the problem.
Good Luck and good question.

yeah it sucks. painful. when I was in like 6th grade there was this kid the dork everyone picked on and well he was uncoordinated. in gym class he had a hockey stick and hit another kid in the face right below the jaw so it pushed his teeth together and the kid bit off a half to a full inch of his tongue. was pretty bad NOW that would hurt worse. blood everywhere

Been there...done that..a lot.
Try rinsing with warm salt water several times a day for several days. When eating, chew carefully.. and on the other side of your mouth.
I know just how painful it can be.
You have all of my sympathy.
