Why are kids so smart mouthed today?

What do you consider "smart mouth" talk? Do you think kids should do as told and be mute the other times? Or do you want them to actually have their own mind and become their own person one day. If you want a child that can't voice their own thoughts then okay.

Spanking is not the answer as many responses have already brought up as the downfall to children nowadays.

What's the reason for all the screwed up adults out there now? All the marriages that fail? Was it because they were the generation that grew up when spanking was still allowed legally?

Because they're parents ahev allowed them to be. Kids will go as far as u allow them to go. Thats why u have to teach them early on that u are the parents and they're the kids.

I can't stand tohear a child or kids talk back, throw things when they can;t get they're way, but the most I hate about it is the parents not tending to it the right way ( whipping that behind) and then make excuses for them. It's just unacceptable for kids to talk back and have such a smart mouth ( only if it smart mouth school and book wise)

A co-worker was talkking on the phone to her daughter about something and whatever happen the daughter ( who was about 8 or 9) hungup on her and she says " oh she's just having a bad day and she is the youngest) that made me so mad because this is a woman who would try to tell an adult at work what to do and would try to make trouble at work for others, yet she can't control her own kids.( who she should tell what to do)

When I see this with parents or kids I stay clear of them because it makes me so mad

I am not being a smart a$$ right now k but I think it is because we are sometimes just disrespectful sometimes we don't mean to be but others we do sometimes we take out our hatred about something else on our elders who we should always be respectful to in the first place I am guilty of it sometimes as well I am no saint I just thought I would let u know why we are so smart a$$ed sometimes.

Because the majority of them come from single parent homes, their friends and school mates, are the same. So more responsibility is put, into the hands of kids, and it is abused. They talk smart mouthed, because they can get away with it.

Because parents aren't allowed to discipline them the way I was disciplined when I was a child. Also parents both usually work, and feel guilty about it so they spoil their children. Plus after working all day, (or night as the case may be), they are tired and lazy about correcting thier kids.

Cause people refuse to punish their children! Corporal Punishment is still as good today as it was 20 yrs ago yet people refuse to use it. I will not back down on my beliefs just because the state tries to scare me and say I cant spank my kids... My children dont pay the bills and dont run MY house so I make the rules and if they dont follow them they answer to ME not the state and not anyone else and I will not have my children acting like Hellion little brats! People need to BUCK UP and SPANK THEIR BUTTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because their parents ain't kickin them in they smart butts, dat's y! All it takes is a switch or a belt. If parents won't do nuthin, i guarantee u the streets will. I hope these ppl can step up 2 the plates. Nobody wants the streets kickin' their children's behind...mmm..mmm-mmm. Kids 2day.....

Because most parents are too busy to be bothered with the raising of their children. They only notice them when they do well in something, then the parents remember that they have children long enough to brag to theirs friends/co-workers-then they go on with their own lives.

Because parents have lost the right to crack them on the rear end to remind them who's who. Now you have to ask permission from your children and give them time out~!! HORSE PUCKY my mother whooped my a** when I stepped outta line. I sure didn't like it then but I knew she wasn't playin' around. And I think it's made me a better person today.
