Ok I am looking to buy a device that I can play mp3s. The big thing would be to be able to get my own music on it from my laptop (I have tons of songs lol). But it would be nice to have the option of "buying th music " for it. I go to the gym so it would be nice to bring it along and bounce around with it without problems. I don't care much for storing photos and watching videos. Fm radio would be nice. I have read so much about ipods, creative zen, this and that blah blah blah. So what should I get?

iPod, definetly. Many mags and resources say that nothing can match the beautiful music quialty and sound. They also can store hundered of songs. Even video if you get a video iPod. The Zen Creative has just taken the iPod idea and made a crummy joke out of it.

I don't own an mp3 player, but I would still reccomend the iPod. I never used to like them, but I've been convinced that they are very good. They have models with large amounts of storage, and they are the only players I know of that can play Apple's AAC format. This format has less quality than an mp3, but much better than Windows' wma, and the files are only a little bigger than a wma file. You can put any music on any mp3 player if you know how. But iPods are good because you can use iTunes, which is a great music player. It organizes welll, and uses the AAC format I mentioned. You can import all of your music into it, and any wmas will be converted to AAC, while mp3s will remain mp3s unless you manually convert them to a smaller AAC file. You can rip CDs to iTunes in either mp3 or AAC format, or a number of other high-quality Apple formats. Also, iTunes has a built in music store that many people use.

As for radio, Apple sells an optional radio remote. However, i think there are Creative Zens with built in radios.

I was once thinking of getting a Creative Zen if I had the money. Now I think I might possibly get an iPod someday. I recently started using iTunes and love it. And I realize how cool it would be to have an iPod.

Well, if you want the option of the store for buying music, I would get a 2gb ipod nano. But if you want to download music from www.limewire.com for free and save money and have a built in FM tuner, I would get some 2-5gb mp3 player. If you have an ebay account, they have these 4gb mp4 video players that are only $60 and they also have FM tuners, voice recorders, they play music, video, and store photos but I only see those ones on Ebay.

videos and pictures r really rediculous to store on mp3 players, so i wouldnt suggest ipods. Ipods r extremely over-rated and even more overpiced. If u r getting an mp3 player, dont get an ipod. Also the itunes program is worse than any other I've ever seen. A really good deal is the zen sleek photo. Although you probably won't store any photos on it, the screen is in color, which makes it better, and it stores 20 gigabytes, and thats better than any ipod deal (You can get one for $200 on Amazon.com). O, and dont get a nano, those things r crap, and overpriced. I got one and the screen broke 2 days later...

If you want to buy music online, then get one of the iPods, since iTunes Music Store is currently the best online music store.

If FM radio is more important to you, then get one of the Creative Zen Micros or a Creative Zen Nano Plus.

I would go with the iPod. Even though you don't need the video capabilties, if you have a lot of music you'll probably want to get a 30 or 60 GB. You can find, at most Apple stores, equipment that allows you to use your iPod while exercising without having to hold it.

Sounds like you're looking for an mp3 player. iPods are for buying musics only. Transferring music from your laptop to the iPods are very hard to do and in some cases are impossible. An mp3 player gives you both options whether you want to buy music or download free music (very fast and easy to download music).

I have heard if u want 'quality' in music go 4 a mp3 player rather than an Ipod(keep bitrate min. of 128 or 192kbps).
I m going to check an ipod myself in half hour, my friend has bought it.
