Yes there is a free downloads site where I have found sims clothes for my sims 2 they even offer a step by step on what to do after downloading, also where to download the items to.

Yes, go to www.thesims2.ea.com and register your game (totally free, need a CD key). Then you can download thousands of user-created clothes.
