Only if I’m not comfortable with the motives of the “complimentor”, or if there are others involved who are equally, or more deserving. Someone complimented me about something I had done recently and I let them know how much I appreciated their noticing my efforts. The reaction was very rewarding, and I felt both of us benefited from the exchange.

Yeah occasionally, I think it's an asian thing, lol.
To appear modest, we always return the compliment by saying, "you too" instead of just smile & say,"thank you".
I tend to overthink it though because compliments are rarely genuine if y'know what I mean...

Sometimes, it depends on how I'm feeling about myself and who the compliment is coming from.

Used to, until I learned how: say thank you and smile, then move on in the conversation.
