Bathing suites are usually sized like alot of pants are but sometimes they run bigger or smaller. I would just get 2 different sizes in the swim suites I liked and try them on. Sometimes you need to mix the lower size & upper size so you get a perfect fit. So for example maybe the top is a 11 but the bottom a 9.

Go to the online site for the store and find their sizing chart. Use a tape measure & figure out what size would fit you best. All stores run differently, so if you're in the store try on whatever looks right, and the size smaller. If you're in between sizes ALWAYS get the smaller size because fabric expands in water and if it's a little too loose when it expands it might fall down and that wouldn't be good haha.

venus swimwear will let you order the top and bottom separately---some of the tops go by bra size. The size chart charts on the web site and in the catalogues are excellent. If you STILL aren't sure which size to order, call them up and the salesperson will tell you if the style runs large or small. I am a 34D with a size 4 butt--these are the only suits I can find that fit!

It's got to do with top and bottom
A girl I know who weighs 140 and is is 5'7" and D cups has to buy size 11 for the top and size 5/6 for the bottom.
Mix and match!
They are right, go to Target or Wal Mart and buy two sizes. Give the rest away to Good Will.

Usually, you will like any swim suit a size larger than your pant size. But you have to try on, until you find what looks great and is comfortable.

It was probably an ill fitting bathing suit. Remember, odd sizes are juniors. If you have curves, go for even numbers, those are misses sizes.

grab several different sizes when you find a suit you think is cute. Try them all on and see what fits best.
