Most oval races, like NASCAR for instance have greater chance of having a good pile up wreck on the track and that is why alot of us watch them. NASCAR does have two "road courses" a year, which have twists and turns and they are actually quite interesting. The Bristol Motor Speedway is a very very short track in NASCAR, and it is actually quite cool to see 43 cars lined up bumper to bumper on it.

I like the ovals better than the road courses because there is generally more passing on the ovals. It's also easier to see the whole track. Also I like the stock cars because it's okay to trade a little paint which can make for exciting racing as well.

By the way, there are a lot of tracks on the NASCAR circuit that I think are boring because there is very little passing on them, that includes the road courses and some of the ovals.

Not all Nascar tracks are ovals. I personally like all motorsports. F1, GrandAm, IRL, Motogp, etc. I enjoy the Nascar races and feel that they are just as exciting, if not more. You should check out the tracks. The road course races are awesome!

Its a lot more exciting than F1 races, where one car manufacturer namely ferrari is going to almost always win. Dont really understand the argument about oval versus road course, if your a race fan it shouldnt matter.

From the spectator point of view, isn't it better to see the whole race at once? Flat-track motorcycle racing is huge in some countries so it's not just Americans who like going in circles. In any case, all motorsports are good fun IMO.

The IRL races on ovals and on road courses. Each type of track has its own appeal. Plus it allows fans to see which drivers can master all types of courses.

Nascar figured out they have to get the fans more involved in nascar, so they have turned it into a soap opera fans are loyal to their driver and buy shirts, hats, exct. So there is more involved than cars going around and around, #8 RULES!

You can see the cars anywhere on the track. It's not boring by any means. Go to one, you'll like it.
