Depends on what "mafia" you are talking about. If you mean the traditional Italian mob, then they have faded somewhat from decades past but word is they are on the verge of making a brutal comeback as the next generation comes of age. As for other mafias like the Russians or Yakuzas, they are very much still in the game along with the biker gangs and other orgaized crime groups. Of course all of them have to fight harder these days to turn a dishonest buck because slimey CEOs have been defrauding the public even better than the mafia has ever been able to do.
