i live in north la california and want a ferret really bad but their illegal. i know that there is like a "black market" for ferrets but dont want to break the law. do u know when schwartsneager is going to pass the bill to make them legal.

He's not. He had the chance to sign the bill but didn't...so it's back to square one for CA ferret lovers.

I really wouldn't worry about the silly law, many people in CA own ferrets. It's not like they are out hunting them down. As long as you don't take it on a walk outside/ tick off anyone who knows you have a ferret you should be ok.

It's risky. Someone knows you have one and doesn't like you, they can take your fert and fine you. They used to euthanize seized ferrets like that and it's really up to the law enforcement personel where you live, but I think now they give you the option to arrange for them to be transported out of the state.
