Use Pack and Go under File and then you don't so much have to worry about it. When you save the file click save as under File then on the pull-down of save as type to Powerpoint 97-2002 Presentation.

In Word2000, there is an option to "disable commands not compatible" with Word 97.

Try Tools, Options, and see if you can find a similar option in your PPT 2002 -- to disable incompatibility with earlier versions.

I know first hand what a pain this can be when I do work at home in an updated version, and take a file to work where we have an earlier version. Have to reset all the graphics.

You should be able to save it as an older version (provided that you're not using any of the newer version's features).
