it was shut down ilegally shutdown by my niece, when i open my computer it starts from Detecting IDE then a message appear ( sory for the inconvinience windows cannot start...
SAFE MODE
SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING
SAFE MODE WITH COMMAND PROMPT
LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION
START WINDOWS NORMALLY
(countdown timer )
after the countdown timer ends WINDOWS XP appears as if it will start but it doesn't continue it will re-start again to
DETECTING IDE DRIVE
it will repeat over and over
thanks a lot. I am looking forward for your immediate answer. Please help me

start it in safe mode. if you have a choice to log the loading of drivers that would be good too.

I'm afraid the little nugget realy did it this time!
You should call the tech support hotline for the company that manufactured your PC. Like as not, the problem can be solved with a command prompt.
After you get it running again, scan for virus and malware. Delete all infected files. Change your passwords and only allow yourself to use the PC.
Lastly, tell your niece if she ever goes near your computer again,you will sell her to an arab family in Iraq!

If it can't detect your IDE drive you need push the cable firmly home or to reset the CMOS(motherboard parameters).
See motherboard book.
You will need to set your your motherboard back from default though.
You should get help from a friend if you are not sure.
If neither method works your hardrive is suspect.

Try doing a system restore to the time before it was shutdown by your neice.

somethings wrong with XP. maybe corrupted. try to reinstall or scandisk
