I would not tell my employer until atleast the end of first trimester. So much can happen during the first few weeks, but if you work in a safe environment and not worried about losing your job, then there is no reason to not go ahead and share the news. That way taking it easy at work won't be such a big deal to your boss and would make you and your employer more comfortable. You should be taking it easy and not worrying about when to share the news. Congratulations by the way. I am 37 weeks and still working...only one more week though. Good luck.

Wait till you're at least 12. You can wait even longer, just make sure you give your boss plenty of time to help you plan your maternity leave. When I was pregnant with my first, my boss found out at 9 weeks because I had some complications and had to keep going to the hospital. But she was very supportive. If I hadn't had the complications, I probably wouldn't have told until I was 15 or 16 weeks along.

God Damn Woman. You Tell Them Right Away!!!!!!
It may be a Safe Environment.. But Safe is a Flase Statement... Nothing is truly Safe.
What if something happens to you? and they didn't know you was pregnant?
I would think that over again Chica.

Tell them after the first trimester is over. Thats when your risk of miscarriage goes way down. I've had people tell me not to tell anyone until after that critical period. But they will like to know to plan on giving you your maternity leave and those kind of things.

It depends on your job. If your job requires you to do any heavy lifting or working with harsh chemicals you should tell them ASAP so they can make changes, like getting you special equipment (which is required by the Person's with Disabilities Act) If there are more than 50 employees.

I have about 30 employees. My advice is to tell your employer as soon as you can. They need to know in case they have to make accomodations for you if you just (God Forbid) happen to have complications.
And it also gives them to prepare for your time off for maternity leave or replace you if you intend to be a stay-at-home mom.

They say you should wait 16 weeks. That way you know that you will not have a miscarriage, because if that happens it usually happens before then.

I see no need to tell anyone until you need to take a leave of absence. People will see you are pregnant
