Most phones are/were dual band or tri band, now you can get quad band which is just adding the 850 MHz band, it is the frequency you need to roam in certain areas w/in the US....

Quad is 4 and Quadband means 4 bands. The four bands are GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900

what quadband means that it will work on 4 signal bands the 800mhz/900mhz/1900mhz/1800mhz. cellular companies run on these towers. sprint and t-mobile run on the 1900mhz which is the pcs spectrum. verizon runs on the 1900mhz also. cingular uses the 800 and the 1900mhz spectrum. t-mobile is starting to use the 800mhz one too what the bands means that you will get singnal in places your dual band phone wont. say you are in an area where there is 900mhz you will get serivice there. plus it also means your phone can travel internationally and pick up their signals also. like in europe and other contries. its pretty neat.

Quad means 4 so it means 4 bands as in 4 seperate antenna levels.
