I'm looking to mass-produce between 500 and 1000 CDs (not CD-Rs) for distribution at shop level. I'm based in Japan, so the company ought to be able to ship overseas. I'd prefer the inclusion of printing and packaging, etc. Anyone got any recommendations? The cheaper the better, obviously!

www.a1cds.co.uk are offering 1000 CD's, glass mastering, pressing and printing (including a 4 color page booklet) for £676.80 including VAT etc. You'd need to pay shipping on top but it's not a bad price to be fair.
Otherwise a google search for CD Replication or CD Pressing (rather than duplication) should bring you plenty of results more local to you - though many of the providers won't give prices on their home pages you'll need to ask them to quote. The replication market can act like a Dutch auction though so don't get thousands of prices to start, just get a couple and then phone round and see if anyone can do better.

If you know someone in radio broadcasting, ask if they can snag a copy of the "trade" mags for the radio business. Radio and Records ( if they still print) used to have ads for CD pressings and jewel case labeling. That's where I would look.
I think such ads are also found in Billboard magazine, too.
