My mum did that many years ago with my brother in her tummy. All she got was the runs...ie: THe shits...and she did not have him for another week!
A baby will come when it is ready. I have four kids under age 9yrs. Two were early...two were late(2 weeks overdue the longest). It is only when the cervix plug comes away and the cervix begins to soften (called ripening) that the woman begins to dilate and make way for the baby to come.
Castor oil is only going to make her get a red bottom from all the running to the loo. And..she will not have the energy to perform in labor if she has pooed all her nutritional food out of her already!!
Eat good, drink lots of water and RELAX..the baby will be here before you both know it :)

For health reasons related to both baby & mother,
I highly recommend NOT using castor oil to induce labor...try a lot of walking instead.

yes and yes. I was already 3cm dilated. When I did it, I took only half a teaspoon of it with nothing to drink with it but water afterwards. I took it in the afternoon around noon and then was in labor by 6 and was induced by 6:30 or 7pm because I wasnt making much prgression with the induction i also had to get pitocin to increase everything. DO NOT TAKE IT, ITS NOT WORTH THE TASTE AND MOST PEOPLE DONT GO INTO LABOR.

My sister-in-law did. It did not induce labor, but she got really sick and ended up hospitalized! NOT a good option.
If the doctor hasn't advised against it, try a brisk walk around the mall or some other safe walking track. Best wishes for a safe delivery and a healthy baby!

In the old days. Labor happens when its ready, If you are overdue, make yourself believe you are fixing to have sex and you will probably go right into labor. You don't have to be aroused, just mentally thinking, here goes, good or bad, and bam the baby just wants out of there.

yes i have drank it when i was 9 months with my 2 year old son in the only thing that it did for me was make me sick in have to run to the restroom every 2 sec this time i walked alot in i had my daugther 2 week early in she is 6 weeks old now try to walk alot if you can i know i hurt but i still did it

it sure did, i went into labor 4-6 hours later, my due date was May 14th and and I took it on the 18th, he wasn't ready and he was coming down with his arm by his face and they gave me a Cesarean, and that was 44 years ago, My doctor said I should have NEVER taken it...

I did an it cause a lot of stomach cramps but no labor try walking and lots of sex.

My friend who had twins did and yes it did.
I tried, but nothing happened.
I would suggest that you stay away from the old wives tales. Most of them are just coincidental.
Let it happen naturally.

I HAVE 2 FRIENDS WHO TRIED IT AND THEY DID GO INTO LABOR. IT ABOUT CHOKED THEM THOUGH! AND MY GRANDMOTHER USED TO TELL US ABOUT DOING THAT BACK IN THE DAY WHEN THEY DIDN'T HAVE HIGH TEC DRUGS FOR THAT AND IT WORKED SO GO FIGURE! JUST BECAUSE YOU NEVER DID OR HEARD OF IT DOESN'T MEAN IT DOESN'T HAPPEN.
IT DOES SOUND CREEPY THOUGH!
