I currently wear a 38 I, and yes there is such a size.

I have been having a lot of back pain, and I am also developing a hump just below my neck, where the neck and back meet. My questions are, why has my doctor never recommended surgery, what are the risks, what does the surgery entail, will my insurance cover it, if I have an HMO, and what were/are your experiences?

Part of me feels sad to be wanting this surgery, as my breasts are part of me. I've been this way for 10 years now. My husband loves me, but will he resent me for having the surgery? He is not thrilled with the idea, even if our insurance covers the cost.
We are finished having children, so I am not so worried about not being able to breastfeed in the future.

Anyway, 10 points that can give me some good insight.

Oh, a little something else, I am majoring in law enforcement, and am also concerned with being able to climb over walls and such with my current breast size.

I would say firstly that you really need to get more communication going with, "hubby." He needs to understand that this is something that you REALLY want and that you are in pain.
Next: Get with the doctor. Have him get on board with your desire to get a reduction- reason being is that HE has to refer you to an orthopedic specialist (back) in order for he and the specialist to recommend reduction surgery (and another referral to a plastic surgeon). This is the ONLY way that you can hope of your HMO paying for your reduction.
One more piece of advice: Try to pacify or sell hubby on the idea by saying that you really want a lift as well as reduction, so you will feel better about yourself after the reduction. The down side of that is the HMO will NOT pay for purely cosmetic procedures (reduction, yes as long as it is justified by the primary
and specialist physician- cheaper than long term physical therapy
for your back!). Something else to consider is that the scaring is
EXTENSIVE on your breasts. In 80% of reduction surgeries- a,
"T" incision is made under the breast (better to hide scars under
the breast, but if there is alot of extra skin [pendulous breasts],
then there is more cutting that needs to be done on the top and sides- don't forget relocating the nipple!) as well as a good probablity of sensativity loss.
Please don't get me wrong! I am NOT trying to discourage you from considering reduction surgery, but your question has many considerations in it and I'd like to address as many of them as I can........without writing a book! ;-) Good luck whatever you decide. I hope this, "little" note is helpful. Just to FYI you, my g/f
is on the big side like yourself (about 36 f/G), I have many friends
in the plastic surgery field, and I was a Combat M.P. in the army.
I knew lots of gals who were both small and, "buxom" as M.P.'s
and they could all climb walls.........

I've never had one. I know a couple of people who have. Insurance should cover it and if I were you I'd bring it up to the doctor. It is a painful operation but fairly safe as operations go. If you do have one you will feel loads better as far as the back pain goes. It does take quite awhile to recover though. You can't lift any weight for quite awhile. I do know about the back pain from personal experience and I'm not as big as you. They get in the way too. I can just imagine myself climbing a wall and falling off while trying to toss one over the edge :) I highly recommend surgery, as for myself I could just lose some weight and nice little D's would fallow. Good luck.

You should have the surgery. With back and neck pain you are only going to create more problems and possibly become bed ridden if not treated. You do not have to go down to an A or a B, but even a DD would be better than an I.

The surgery is just that surgery and everyone recovers from this differently. Mine was painful like a my c-section. It was over however in a matter of weeks and I do not regrete it one bit.

As for my hubby, he loves them now just as much as he did then if not more.

only personal experience I have with breast reduction is this .........

( @ Y @ )

to

( o Y o )

; )

I've heard of an I-pod,
but never an I-cup ........ LOL

J/K .......... forgive me for making light
of what sounds like a very justified reason
for considering reduction surgery. If you are
already experiencing pain & slight deformity
(neck hump) ....... it will most likely continue
to get worse as you age ...... so even though
elective surgery may not be covered by insurance,
in this case it would mainly be for medical reasons,
not strictly cosmetic ..... so still possible insurance
might pay partial benefits if doctor can convince them
it was correcting a potential health risk.

Best of luck to you : )

Did you know that the actress who played Punky Brewster was in the very same shoes (or should I say 'bra'???) that you are in now???

I know her name but can't spell it ('Soliel Moon Frye???)....anyway...she was having the back pain and so forth and had her breasts reduced and it did wonders for her. She appeared on many talk shows in the 90s to talk about her story.

If your husband loves you he will understand completely...breast reduction is NOT breast elimination...you can still have a 'nice rack' afterwards....his concern will be your health and comfort. I tend to doubt that insurance will cover it but you should definitely pursue that road. It is possible that if a doctor says that your current condition is a health risk, insurance will kick in.

Good luck!
