teacher background checks basically check for 3 things: drug offenses, any crime involving a minor, and sometimes theft or larceny. traffic tickets won't matter in the least and neither will bounced checks.

Traffic violations do not count for this type of thing. Now days, employers are also looking at credit scores on occasion, but if she won't be handling any money, it probably would not be an issue. They do a criminal background check on you for the most part. I wouldn't worry about having a couple of bounced checks, unless the individual was taken to court over a large sum of money that they bounced a check for.

Any violation of the laws of the land contribute to a background investigation. I'm not sure how much the civilian investigation goes, but for a military security clearance the FBI checks all addresses you've lived and even neighbors.
Credit reports are also used in determining the worth of a prospective employee, so bounced checks certainly will affect the resulting investigation.

The background information provided depends on the purpose of the check. If it was for an employer where the person would deal with money then arrests would come into question or possible law suits the person has been involved in. For people dealing with kids they want to make sure the person is not a sex offender and has no felonies.

Usually they check for major criminal offenses and child abuse/neglect crimes. Traffic tickets (if they are minor) usually don't affect a person's chance at getting a job. They may check her credit, but probably not (which is the only way that a bounced check MIGHT appear). She really shouldn't have anything to worry about.

They check for criminal history arrest, Credit Check, Any thing to do with children, driving records. I don't think tickets count but if checks are bad enough were the police were involved that might.

o.k, this is a very complex to try to answer and i hope what iam about to write will help you...the city will look at your credit records to see if you are a '''safe risk''' and the company that you apply work will do a background check to make sure that you are a steady worker or if you are absent a lot, also they will do this because of the incidents that has happened in our schools , i mean all the shootings all the threats....1]to make sure that they have a teacher who is strong emotionally to handle anything that might happen... 2] also they might want to make sure[no offense] that she is not on who might snap and cause a shooting standoff..she might want to go to the www.freecreditreport.com
or she might try www.businessoppertunitycreditscore.org or it could end with .gov i don't remember if it ended in .com but anyway i hope I've given you a good idea of what she is up against and why

Usually, they have an agency that checks your credit record, your educational record, and your criminal record. Some don't check anything but the criminal record.
Bounced checks are baaaaaaaad!!! Has she ever gone to court over a bounced check? Then she probably won't get the job.

For a teacher, they're probably checking to see if she's a registered sex offender, or any other criminal background.
Also they might be checking her credit history as well.
A credit history will tell them how reliable she is.

No, those sorts of things have nothing to do with possibly endangering a child. I however have never heard of thm taking your finger print? Don't they just suppose to do a CORI check?
