You mean, 'no one'?...well, there's those pesky kids down the block...LOL, sure why not be supersititious about this? No kidding, I don't think you need to worry!

Yes, it means death is at the door.

If you hear a ringing doorbell or 3 knocks at the door, and you open the door and no one is there, it means there will be a death (usually in the family) shortly.

People may scoff and say it is an 'old wives tale', but from personal experience, I haven't found that to be the case.

I never believed in old wives tales before and never heard this one until years after this one thing happened. My mom is real shy and will not answer the door if she is alone, and my dad has really bad heart trouble. One day there was a knock on the door and my mom got up to look not seeing anybody she went to the bedroom to tell my dad and found him blue with congestive heart failure. She called 911 and saved his life. Never did know who was at the door!! One day I told this story and someone told me that if you hear a knock on the door and noone is there do not open the door it is death trying to come in. We can laugh at it now and say that it was good for dad that mom is scared of everything. But when I heard that wives tale after the fact kinda gave me goose bumps!!!!!!!!

yeah: ring the doorbell. If no one answers, it's either they 1) can't hear you, 2) don't want to be distrubed, 3) don't want to see you or 4) simply aren't home.

Yeah - I heard it was death or something bad wanting to get into your house. If you yell "come in!", it will.

It's better to go check, than to yell "come on in"!!!! Maybe even tell "it" that it is not allowed or invited in.
