ok...NEVER give a baby honey; it can cause botulism...and don't use adult strength Vicks, it can worsen the problem b/c of the strength. Vicks makes a rub for babies called Vicks babyrub...you can try that...also Johnson and Johnson's makes a baby wash that is mentholated that might help too...have you considered he might be cutting his upper teeth? Sometimes they get runny noses, stuffiness, and coughing cutting upper teeth. When you asperate his nose spray some saline in first to loosen everything up first. Also you can check with your pediatrician about the dosage of Dimetapp and give him some of that. I know for my 9 month old who is 18 lbs she takes 3/4 tsp of dimetapp.

Have you checked his temperature? At this age, it's safest to call your pediatrician and get their advice. In the meantime, you should aspirate his nose so that he can breathe easier. You may want to use a cool mist humidifier that helps the passage ways. Also elevate the head of his mattress a bit by placing a rolled up towel under it. This will help him sleep better.
But please, call the doctor. You should never ignore any signs. It's better to be safe than sorry. If not taken care of properly, he could end up with an ear infection, croup, laryngitis, etc...

My son (at 6 months) came down with a cold. I immediately called the doctor. Within a 3 hour span, he started a fever... and everything else just followed. It took 12 days of medications to clear it up. Don't put off the call.

I saw on one of the answers, they suggested honey. It is recommended that you don't give honey to your child until they are at least 1 years old (could cause allergic reaction). I would hold off on honey unless your doctor says it's okay!

There's nothing you can really do. If she's having a hard time sleeping, have her sleep (buckled in) in her car seat to help her breathe a little easier.
