Note to our hotheaded, little fascist, Republican extremists who've answered this. You shouldn't take this so personal. Remember, Bush ain't working for you either. He's in Haliburton's pocket.

To all who answered: Who represents you in Washington?
Can you call them and talk to them personally? If you write or email them do they answer personally? Or is it a canned letter.
The middle class in this country is slowly fading away with the kind of government that you Described. Both parties are guilty!
Are you represented?

Only one problem, the fact that there are elections makes it impossible for any one party to have a "totalitarian political philosophy."

to·tal·i·tar·i·an (t-tl-târ-n) KEY

ADJECTIVE:

Of, relating to, being, or imposing a form of government in which the political authority exercises absolute and centralized control over all aspects of life, the individual is subordinated to the state, and opposing political and cultural expression is suppressed

The fact that we as citizens are still allowed to express our views, either for or against the State, means this country is in no way being led by Fascists. If we were, you would soon be visited by the Governmental Secret Police and never heard from again. You should consider yourself lucky to possess the amount of freedoms that you do. Trying to insinuate that the Bush Administration is Fascist is not only wrong, it is ignorant.

*LMAO* Hat's off to CHRIS!!! Excellent response!

St. James: Just to satisfy my own curiousity, what is wrong with taking some of the power away from the Government, of being against communism and against the rabid liberals? What is wrong with the military being always on the ready? If the military isn't always on the ready, what is the point of having a military?

Jesus laid down His life for you and, though in a very different way, so will our men and women in uniform. Have you thought about being grateful and thankful to either of them? If it came down to something really awful going down, you will be crying for Jesus and praying for a soldier. So you might want to re-think that military part.

I'm genuinely confused about the 'authoritarianism' part. Can you explain?

And, do you think it is at least *possible* that a Liberal Extremist or two wrote that definition? And, maybe even a few more added to it? It's Widipedia, hun. It's not Gospel or even declared to be correct.

Dictionary.com defines "nationalism" is:

1. Devotion to the interests or culture of one's nation.
2. The belief that nations will benefit from acting independently
rather than collectively, emphasizing national rather than
international goals.
3. Aspirations for national independence in a country under
foreign domination.

What do you find wrong with nationalism?

"A political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition."
Hmm, the way Merriam-Webster puts it, fascism sounds more like Liberal extremists to me.
