Both had strong vocal talent, but as a definite better, would have to go to Van Halen/Sammy Hagar. More Albums, better songs, more records sold, and they had a better run of popularity, and as someone else said D.L.R. was annoying, and only a mediocre talent and the years have not been good to him, appearance wise or financially.

i liked van hagar better, mostly because sammy hagar is a writer..did you ever notice the cover tunes with david lee roth & van halen? hagar cranks out songs..originals, not covers... its a matter of taste i guess

Van Halen without Roth was hardly a band. It's too bad. They should reunite.

Let's be realistic, David Lee Roth is a showman but his voice is full of energy and it was what made the band so special.
