A recruiter called me for a possible job opening but hasn't called me back for a week and a half. How long should I wait to call again?

My current position took 2 weeks from initail contact (shortlisting) to interview time, then about a month to find out i had the position. It all depends on the company/organization structure (private/public/government) etc, but i would say that after a period of about 2 weeks it wouldn't seem unreasonable just to follow up with how your application is traveling.

If the position has been filled and you haven't been notified, it shows poor public relations on behalf of the company involved i would think twice about wanting to work there.

Plenty of time has passed, I'd go ahead and call. Let them know you're calling to check the status of the position, and that you're still interested. If the recruiter isn't in when you call, ask the receptionist to leave a message for him (her). If they are professional, they will return your call.

If your interested in the job, dont wait, be persistant but polite. By showing your interest, you are getting the attention that you need to land the job.

Don't call them. They will call you if they want or need you.

At best, just follow up with another cover letter and resume.
