When I have kids, I was thinking they could call me Mama, and my wife Mommy, or vise versa. What about you?

I want my children to refer to my husband and I by our first names. My boyfriend most vehemently does not want our kids to call him "John." I think that it would be harmful for him to be "dad" and me to be "Jonathan," because then I end up being their friend and he ends up being their parent. But that's probably what will end up happening.

And no, I'm not letting my kids call him "Papa John."

I wouldn't care what they called me, as long as it was respectful. I have two dads, so why would it bother me for my child to have two grandpas in the same house?

in my experience a child will call you whatever they feel comfortable saying....

My mom always wanted to be called mom-mom by my young niece. To this day she is "maw-my."

My suggestion is just to start off with trying to condition her to know what your "names" will be, but then as she starts to speak let her make her own verbal cues as to who you are...
