by select stock using technical analyis, you use charts and technical indicators to choose the stock already in down trend that ready to turn up. that means you should choose the stock in oversold area(meaning that the stock ready to turn around)

using moving average, RSI, MACD , TRIX to identify the oversold area of the stock

To Taranto, fundamental mean nothing if you are not know when to sell, fundamental without technical is nothing

Both previous responders have their points. However, Taranto, the sad thing is college education does not quarantee that you are ther best in making money. I also have a scientific PhD, but I try to keep myself open to ideas coming from my network, analyze them, and select the logical ones to learn from. In short, college education means that you have a better or wider capacity to learn. Use it to your best advantage. There are folks out there without college degrees but they are absolutely amazing in terms of insights. These are the prodigious minds to learn from.

Technical analysis are results from studies of statisticians. I don't know much about it, but the algorithms are tough to follow anyway. From a practical standpoint, you dont gain much to your advantage to make money bu knowing fundamentals, but you can follow technical analysis to make successful trades in the market. The success in the market embodies two parts: the right strategies and their follow-through, and know when to get in and get out. Nothing is perfect, but by following technical analysis, you should have a better than 75% success rate.
