Probably because there is no variation in shade, as there would be with a color such as blue, red, etc. Black is black, and it makes everyone look like part of the team. Also, most shirt colors will "go with it."

I've seen security guards wearing black pants. I wear dark blue slacks or tan Dockers...yes, there's still some of us wearing those dorky pants.

I'm more into the light gray and brown suits myself. But, then again, I don't work for a big company.

because black matches with everything...and most companies would rather just provide a shirt with a logo on it rather than an entire ensamble...besides, they're easy to come by if you don't already have a pair or two..

black is more dressy and makes a nicer appearance. black does look very sharp and is easier to get so everyone will be dressed alike. all in all, it just looks better and honestly goes with everything pretty much.
