Honestly, it is not for everyone. But it isn't easy to afford, i went to communtiy college for a few years that was on financial aid, now i am at the university and i have aid and loans, and i don't live on campus. Yes there are a lot of excuses, not affording it is not the best one. it is difficult to handle and very stressful financially, especially on your own but it is possible.

It is a bs reason for some and a good reason for others. From experience I know that there are a lot of restrictions on the money (you can't be married or work more than 15 hours a week depending on the source). I say that if people don't go to college it is their own choice. It is one less person who I have to compete with for a job. That said: I think everyone should go. It has been the best 2 years of my life.

There are plenty of people who don't qualify for aid, though their parents can't afford to pay for school. Also, if you need to work full-time, you may not be able to take enough hours to qualify for aid. I only finished college because I got hired by an employer who paid for school. However, that meant that I had to keep working part-time and college took a while.

Sometimes its just that people thought they'd be giving up something that seemed more important if they took the time to go to school. Most of us can find the money for things we really want, but maybe that's not school. Though my employer's policy on paying for education was well publicized, few of my coworkers took advantage of it.

Well, if they are from a lower class family, they may also be working to provide income for their family. Even with inexpensive and attainable community college, they still might have other competing familial responsibilities.

don't make excuses for yourself to settle for mediocrity! If you want to go to a community college... don't expect to make over $50k per year! Otherwise, bite the bullet, go for the long haul, get the loans, and go for it! You will kick yourself in the future for not going for your dreams... decide what you want to "settle for" and do it!
