I think he should be, but I don't think he will, just because he used steriods, even though the stuff he was using was legal at the time. He was amazing throughout his career though, and deserves to be.

Unlikely with his lack of cooperation at the grand jury and recent refusal to assist George Mitchell's investigation. It's really a shame too. He was one of those players who didn't need the steroid edge (49 HR's as a skinny rookie in 1987) and would undoubtedly be an HOF candidate were it not for the scandals. The point should be made that Mcgwire obviously used steroids, as did Barry Bonds. However it has not been PROVEN that either one knowingly and wittingly took them. Therefore if McGwire is excluded from the hall simply for alleged and unproven steroid use, Bonds should suffer the same fate regardless of whether he breaks Aaron's record or not. It should be noted that if McGwire hadn't lost two seasons to injury and wasn't forced to retire early for the same reason, he would be chasing that very record along with Bonds.

No way. There are too many people who don't want to put someone with is controversy in the Hall. Besides, unless you're a great player and a great guy, there are always those New York butt-munches who say things like "Babe Ruth wasn't a first-ballot Hall of Famer, why should this guy be?" Mac isn't that guy.

No,this years class will probably be Cal Ripkin, and Tony Gwinn, both incredibly deserving. The steroid issue will haunt McGwire, which is a shame.

I hope not he's a cheater and he also refuse to testify for senator mitchell the other day, that kind of tells me that he is hiding something. His record should be wiped out along with barry bonds and sammy sosa..Leave the records to guys that got them the right way.

Not a chance he gets in first ballot. He MAY get in eventually, but he won't even get 50% of the vote first ballot! U think they are gonna put him in a class with Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken!?!? HELL NO!

no he shouldnt. tony gwynn and Cal Ripken both did many better memorable issues then hitting domicile runs yet when those are the in easy words gamers of that high quality then he should be yet in an excellent classification i do not imagine he could be inducted(yet perhaps indicted for steroids)

no way, he's a cheater and a liar. His statements in the steroid hearings have come back to haunt him. There was a street named after him in St.Louis which has since changed back to its original name.

He's a cheater. He'll never get into the HOF. And after today's wise a$$ remarks to the investigating committee he'll be luck not to go to jail.

It's a toss-up right now. But he absolutely should get in on the first ballot.

Steroids? We're in America; innocent until proven guilty.
