So I was bit by a mosquito... I think... early this morning and my lip is swollen (tat is where I was bit) to about the size of your big toe and I just wanted to know what are some good ways to reduce the swelling. So far ice has just made it hurt worse and I think it made it bigger, but thats just me. Any ideas?

I also have hives all over my back, so if anyone knows if this sort of thing can happen due to allergies, and how long does it take for them to go away?

If you are getting hives and swelling, you need to take some benadryl Immeadiately and you need emergency help. Call 911.

You have probably not been bit by a mosquito, but something else that you are allergic to. (hornet maybe). Allergies can become very emergent.

You should probably go to the doctor. As far as making swelling go down put pressure on it and ice should be helping in the first 24 hours.

your condition sounds serious. if you develop hives your body is responding to an allergic reaction. i would take a pain killer to relieve swelling, then an antihistamine to counter the allergic reaction of the hives. monitor your breathing as well because an allergic reaction can constrict your ability to breathe freely. you really need to go to emergency in this case.

you should see a doc right away. skeeter bites are small and will itch a bit, but thats all. you were bit by something else as you wouldn't have any pain from their bites let alone hives.
