Although Its true that most popular girls are the ones with money and looks, its FAR more cooler when u are popular for WHO u are as a person. Basically, u can follow these tips:

1) Always looks ur best within ur budget (no exceptions). Never pressure ur mom for extra money and never be obsess with what u dont have. This includes glowy skin, clean hair, manicured nails (u can do urself) & a little fresh makeup. But most important which many tend to forget are 1) a confident, erect posture 2) smells nice ALWAYS - make people remember u even when u r gone.

2) Be nice to EVERYBODY and say 'hi' even to the most unpopular person at ur school * Hollywood Girl thinks so too!

3) Maintain a good grade. In fact, u'll be admired more if u can be smart and beautiful at the same time.

4) Own a signature item that only YOU have. (I used to own a smashing, really cool red bag that practically glows under the sun. Now,years later, old friends still talk about how that bag made evbody looks twice at me :)

5) Dont be afraid to speak up in class. But always be dignified and cool.

Depends on where you live. I live in Woodland Park and there really isnt a popular and nonpopular croud, however in Sanford, North Carolina where i used to live there was a lot to do with the populars and non populars. My sugestion would be you would have to be rich, beautiful, and comfortable around people. if you are lacking in something, dont try. You will soon find you've wasted your whole life away trying to be something your not. Just be yourself is my suggestion. Whether ur popular or not being yourself shouldnt matter as long as you have friends who love you for who you are.

For me 6th grade passed by fast but it was fun. First make alot of friends and try to be outgoing.(being outgoing usually is the base of popularity). Maybe you can make your style a little cooler if its a little plain but dont try to look like a strippper/ hoochie because then people will just not like you.
