I am tired of working for the man! I want to be on my own and profitable. I am not scared to take risks but not into get rich quick screams. If anyone is in business for themselves or owns a company please give me a few suggestions or paths to look into. I am thinking about franchises but am not sure if that is the right path. I will give you alittle bit of background on me. I worked in the Navy as a Cryptoligist computer opterator for 4 years now I am 24 years old working on a Navy base in Japan as a system administrator. I have a computer background but do not wish to use this in my business except to setup my own network.
I have been told that it doesnt matter what your selling its how you sell it.

I own a plastics and paper products company and a good salesman can sell anything . A great salesman can close the big deals . The big deals cover the overhead but the small deals are sweet cause you make gtreater margins . Keep your cash flow up to date and keep it current . Never be afraid of turning an account over for collection cause you are gonna lose the acct, anyhow .We sell restaurant supplies, toilet paper - really essential- bottled drinks like soda and water . We supply prisons with tube ssocks , t-shorts, and closeout fopod items . we do a big business in bleach , cleaners, and other cleaning supplies like mops, buckets, brooms , mop heads, caution signs etc etc etc

Franchises costs $, a lot of $.
First thing you should decide is how much capital you have.
Personally I'm also tired of the corporate world. What I am doing is doing my own stuff and my regular job at the same time; the idea is that once my own stuff is stable enough, I'll jump.
What I am doing is selling health products to my own friends. Wait, don't stop reading, let me finish ok...
The reason I'm doing this is because I take the product and most of my friends ask me what I'm doing to lose weight and be simply more healthy than before; so once they try they get results and so on. It's not a scam because the products work. I've lost 9kg in total and kept it off for over a year, I haven't been sick in a long while, despite still working on project basis (I used to crash and burn at the end of every project).
What I'd recommend you to do is look into this type of business; the capital is virtually nil, the reqards in terms of $ quite good, and best of all you are helping people around you. The trick is to find products that work on you first, then your results will get people to become your customers.
I have absulutely zero selling skills, but my results speak for themselves...
Do think about it.
Also bear in mind that the 'Western world' esepcially is becoming more and more health conscious, and the healthcare and supplements industry will definitely grow in the next decades, espeically as the baby boomers age and would rather spend $ on staying healthy than spending $$$ when you are sick.
Do take a look at what's available, try on yourself, and once you are convinced, do the business.
Good luck!

Driving Instructor.
The Company trains you, provides a car, gives you the clients and then you take it from their yourself. It's up to you then how succesful you want to be.
Obviously you pay the company a small percentage of your bookings, but hey you've got the best of both worlds. Plus once you have gained a reputation then you set up totally on your own.
Might try this myself if my other options don't work out.
Been in Business for myself for the last 4 years, and pub management for 20+ years prior to that, now all I want to do is work for somebody else and get a regular pay.
The grass is always greener on the other side........................

BurnLounge--have your own personalized online music store. Invite family, friends or anyone to browse, sample and buy music. I have a store at http://burnlounge.com/mlbliss and I enjoy doing this!!
BurnLounge is a fantastic new deal on the internet! They just started in November 2005 and have grown quite rapidly since. They have music sites now, but will be adding ringtones, movies, DVDs, video games, concert tickets, audio books and other things later.
They also allow new (or old) musicians the opportunity to distribute their music with them and they offer people the opportunity to have their own online music stores. BurnLounge is contracted with the top 4 music marketing labels, which makes everything they have online LEGAL to download.
If you would like more information, please feel free to send me an email and I will do what I can to help you.
My site is http://burnlounge.com/mlbliss and you can also research them at http://corp.burnlounge.com and http://help.burnlounge.com
