I remember while in my late teens or early 20's watching the Johnny Carson show one friday night seeing a movie scene where a couple were having sex during a lightening storm in the dark. There was a point where it could be clearly seen that the penis was entering the vagina and there were scenes clearly showing the thrusting. Turned out the operators (don't know if local tv station or national broadcast company - NBC) "accidently" passed porn video over the airwaves instead of the Johnny Carson Show. However, the way it was done it looked intentional. The timing was perfect with the show.

Since they invented cable which is not on the public airwaves. If you don't like it change the channel. As for me I have no problem with nudity, it really harms no one. It is the ridiculous violence I dislike on TV. But I just change the channel on that too.
I wouldn't worry about it. Breasts are mostly harmless.

Cable is a paid service and
. Other programs may be distributed by cable only; rules restricting content (e.g. regarding nudity and pornography) are often more relaxed for cable than for over-the-air TV. and that is why.

Actually I think it always has been if you say CABLE. Not network, but CABLE. See cable channels aren't really under the rule of the FCC as far as the "decency act" although I think they just don't show it.

Every year they have to push the envelope all for the sake of ratings. Imagine what it'll be like in 10 years.

When I was in France, I saw a naked woman in a shower on a soap commercial. No one raised an eyebrow...it was just a commercial to them. I guess it just depends on the context and the culture.
