Are you talking about the patch to prevent pregnancy? If so, that is only available by prescription. You would have to get the prescription, take it to a pharmacist and then you could pay with cash. If money is difficult, try going to planned parenthood.

Birth control methods such as the patch, pill, or shot, are all hormonal based, and are perscribed depending on which will work best for you. You can't just use which ever, because not all of them work the same on everyone. It's the same theory with taking your friends birth control pills. What works for her might not work for you.

Planned Parenthood is not always free, but it IS based on a sliding scale. If you are a student in high school or younger, then you will most likely get it free, because chances are you don't have a job yet, or if you do, it's a part time minimum wage deal.

Planned Parenthood is also 100% confidential. You could wander in at 13, ask for condoms, and they aren't going to tell your parents. They will even disguise mail they send to you, and use code names for phone calls instead of saying, "Hey, have her call Planned Parenthood, her test results are in!"

I highly recommend going to a PP and getting an exam, and discussing birth control options.

Orthro Evra, the once a week patch, has been shown to increase the risk of blood clots and heart attacks. Try the pill or nuvea ring which are safer instead. Nuvaring is inserted and left for a month. It can cause spotting during periods. I haven't tried it because of love of my underwear. All birth controls require a prescription because all types have side effects and can interfer with other medications. If you are going to try other means to get bc then do your research big time before hand.

This would depend on your state, I would say. In VA you would need a prescription. You might be able to get this at your local Health Dept for free depending on your income without out anyone knowing. This is a private issue between the doctor or the health dept and you.

The health department is free. However it is given by nurses and you cannot legally get birth control without a health care professional. If you are worried about your parents finding out don't worry. The health department can't tell them. And make sure you still wear a condom.
