This problem is really getting to me lately. As sort of a nervous habit, I pick the skin on my lips. Here's why: I use a light/sheer chapstick on my lips and if my lips are not perfectly smooth, it shows flakes. So I've learned to peel the skin off. But a lot of times, it gets to the point where I'm bleeding. I've tried EVERYTHING including always putting chapstick/balm on and just trying to stop. But I CAN'T stop no matter how hard I try, because the skin keeps coming back and doesn't smooth out. It always feels as if it needs to be peeled off and I really can't keep myself from doing it. What can I do about this? I'm getting so sick of it.

Get Vaseline "creamy" and smear a little onto your lips. At night apply it a bit more heavily. Also, you could try a lanolin cream (they both smell kinda gross but are the best moisturizers). I had jaw surgery which makes your face and lips swell up pretty bad and this is what the doc told me to use b/c when the swelling goes down, your lips tend to get really chapped. Chapsticks do nothing except protect your lips from sun or wind damage. The vaseline or lanolin helps your lips repair themselves. Also, if what you're using doesn't smell or taste very good, you're less likely to pick at the flakes with your teeth. It'll just take pure will power to stop using your fingers. Hope this helps!

i have the same problem. i use medicated stuff ony my lips. like the brand ChapStick has this lip balm that's medicated. it makes your lips tingle when you first put it on. it help smooth out your lips so you don't pick as much. it helps, A LOT. i hardly ever pick my lips now. make sure the label says that it's medicated. otherwise it won't work

Its not a good idea to pick your lips, you can really mess it up. Here's a suggestion" when you wake up every morning say positive thingz like I'm not gonna pick my lips, I'm not gonna get nervous, I can do it, if u keep saying it, trust me, It'll work
